In cases of varicose veins, spider veins and the like, patients have to face problems related to both self-image and health. Our vein specialists understand that some McKinney patients feel ashamed of how their appearance because of these vein disorders. These vein conditions are by no means “just cosmetic” however, so patients should never put off getting vein treatment because they assume health insurance might not cover it. Total Vein Treatment Centers procedures are on most major insurance plans including Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicare, both in-network or out-of-network.
Varicose veins are caused when the patient’s blood flow malfunctions, causing pain and changes in the appearance of veins. The affected veins usually need to be removed or closed. Instead of stripping veins, Dr. Naifeh prefers minimally invasive sclerotherapy. With this technique, chemical injections work to seal off varicose veins and spider veins. The non-surgical vein treatment requires no anesthesia. More options for McKinney vein patients:
- Foam sclerotherapy
Treating Venous Reflux Disease
Close to 25 million people in the U.S. have venous reflux disease, which is diagnosed through symptoms such as leg pain, varicose veins, spider veins, leg swelling, skin changes or ulcers, leg fatigue, heaviness or throbbing legs. Our vein doctor may recommend procedures ranging from medication and compression therapy to sclerotherapy, phlebectomy or VNUS closure. Prescription-strength compression hose, fitted by our trained associate as directed by Dr. Naifeh, can provide some relief for varicose veins or spider veins. In some cases, however, sclerotherapy can be a more effective solution.
Phlebectomy for Varicose Veins
Another outpatient treatment at Total Vein Treatment Centers is ambulatory phlebectomy, where surface varicose veins can be surgically removed through a tiny incision. Typically, only local anesthetic is needed at the site where a needle is inserted. The varicose vein is removed through that small hole with little or no scarring left behind.
VNUS Closure McKinney
Dr. Naifeh and his vein treatment staff work with many McKinney patients who have varicose veins, as well as the progressively more serious chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). Our aim is to prevent varicose veins from advancing to CVI, with its symptoms of swelling, skin damage, skin ulcers, and leg pain. A proven, minimally invasive vein treatment used by Dr. Naifeh is endovenous ablation, a VNUS Closure procedure. Using the Venefit™ method of radiofrequency ablation, VNUS closure is performed on an outpatient basis using only local anesthesia.
